Battery Tech Workshop: Fleet Techniques for Safety & Prolonging Battery Life

As the demand for EVs continues to grow, so do common fleet challenges surrounding maintenance and total cost of ownership. With battery costs so high, one of the top things on fleet minds is how long that battery will last in their new EV that starts out at 2-4x the cost of an internal combustion engine vehicle. Another top thing on fleet minds is making sure their personnel and first responders are up to date on the battery technologies to ensure safe and proper handling in and out of the field. How are fleets addressing these challenges? This session will explore: fleet experiences with battery lifecycle and degradation; techniques to prolong battery life; and addressing fleet concerns and safety on proper battery handling.

Connected Tech Workshop: Maximizing Use of Data

Connected technology and the data it generates plays an increasingly vital role in today’s fleet management and it will be even more critical as the intelligent “fleet ecosystem” develops. Many fleet owners are familiar with GPS, ELD, telematics and new offerings by OEMs and equipment providers, but many don’t fully understand the suite of solutions needed to maximize uptime, asset utilization, and efficiency that are needed for cost reductions and improved service. This session will highlight best practice for maximizing data use and participants will learn how to use these systems to improve performance of alternative fuel vehicles.

Battery Tech Workshop: Accelerating Second Life and Recycling

As widespread adoption of EVs continues, excitement surrounds the enjoyment of driving them, their potential to be energy independent, and the environmental benefits that accompany lack of tailpipe emissions. Amid this excitement, we need to take a moment and investigate the full lifecycle costs and costs and considerations of EVs. As these lower-range, less advanced EVs of yesteryear come back for service or go onto their next owner, are we prepared for all the batteries that will need replacement? And where do the old batteries go? This is no longer a hypothetical situation but one that requires action. This session will explore best practices and policy considerations needed to ensure these vehicles and the batteries used to power them are properly recycled or prepared for second life ability.
