SANTA MONICA, CA - May 11, 2010 - Gladstein, Neandross & Associates (GNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Erickson as Senior Projects Manager. Erickson is a highly-skilled mechanical engineer offering more than 15 years of natural gas vehicle industry experience, skills, knowledge, and industry relationships. He brings a strong base of technical expertise in the alternative fuel vehicle arena and has worked in both project and operations management, with special emphasis on natural gas fleet vehicles (CNG and LNG). Most recently, Erickson worked with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) as the Facilities and Specialty Vehicle Equipment Maintenance Manager where he directly managed an $11 million annual budget including salaries, benefits, service and maintenance contracts, and capital equipment purchases. During his seven-year tenure, he led major engineering projects of several million dollars annually and ran multiple large projects affecting property acquisition and major property improvements. OTCA operates one of the largest natural gas transit fleets in the United States with several hundred LNG and CNG buses within its operation. Erickson was responsible for significant improvements in OCTA’s vehicle emission strategies and planning within the organization’s jurisdiction. Beyond OCTA, Erickson served as the agency’s representative to several regional and statewide government agencies responsible for development of the rules and regulations of vehicle emissions and related technologies, including as the Vice-Chair of the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee Technical Advisory Committee. Previously, Erickson oversaw the design, development and testing of natural gas, low emission, vehicle internal combustion engine products at San Diego-based Clean Air Power (CAP). He fully developed Caterpillar medium and heavy-duty, Dual-Fuel™ truck engines to operate on natural gas and propane (while maintaining all of the benefits of a compression-ignition engine) and was a key contributor in the development of the MicroPilot® technology. He was accountable for full tuning, certification to CARB Low-NOx and EPA LEV standards, and full “driveability" for the consumer. While at CAP, Erickson supervised all engineering and product plans, procedures, costs, development strategies, and support plans, including training and manuals. He is also well-versed in the administration of ISO/TS 16949 procedures. Prior to CAP, Erickson served as LNG Product/Project Manager at Chart, Inc. where he managed a staff of field engineers, $5 million in sales, and multiple fuel dispensing station products and projects from design to manufacturing and installation. His primary projects included large LNG transit fueling stations for the City of Phoenix and Dallas Area Rapid Transit, an LNG truck fueling station in the UK, and an LNG peak shaving site in Norway. He directed business development initiatives while at Chart, including the identification of new markets and the design of new products. Erickson has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and is a Member of the Society of Automotive Engineers subcommittee on Liquefied Natural Gas standards development.
