NEW YORK CITY, NY - December 16, 2009 - Gladstein, Neandross & Associates (GNA) is proud to announce the opening of its New York City office, a move that will formally extend the talent and expertise of one of the nation’s leading environmental consulting firms from coast to coast. The New York office, located at 257 Park Avenue South, 12th Floor, New York City, New York, will operate under the direction of Cliff Gladstein, President of GNA, and will be managed by Alycia Gilde, Vice President. Augmenting its existing presence in Santa Monica, San Diego, and Phoenix, GNA’s New York City office will provide an expanded source of support for alternative fuel, advanced clean transportation, carbon displacement, and air quality improvement projects.
“GNA has been extremely fortunate to have realized increasing levels of business on the East Coast,” said Gladstein. “We felt the timing was right to enhance our operational presence in order to better meet the needs of our expanding client base. The environmental initiatives under development in this area of the country are quite significant, and GNA looks forward to playing a key role in the implementation of these groundbreaking programs.”
GNA has been active on the East Coast for several years, having successfully delivered a number of clean air transportation projects in locations from upstate New York to Georgia.
- In July of 2008, GNA organized the very successful “Faster Freight – Cleaner Air (FFCA)” conference at the Jacob K. Javitz Center. Featuring such noted speakers as Lisa P. Jackson (current administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency [U.S. EPA] and previous commissioner, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection), Alberto Aleman Zubieta (administrator of the Panama Canal Authority), Tommy Hodges (chairman of the American Trucking Association), Christopher Ward (executive director, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey), and many other VIP speakers, the event was extremely well received and attended by the a wide range of stakeholders from the goods movement industry. FFCA is widely recognized as the nation’s premier conference focusing on solutions and resources to improve operations and reduce emissions from freight transport.
- In 2009, GNA organized the largest heavy-duty hybrid truck deployment project in the history of the United States, with leading national fleets such as UPS, Sysco Foods, Nestle Waters North America, Aramark, and others deploying 150 state-of-the-art hybrid electric and hydraulic hybrid trucks in commercial operations. To assist this effort GNA wrote and secured a $6 million Recovery Act grant from the U.S. Department of Energy through the Maryland Energy Administration.
- GNA assisted with writing and securing $10 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants for the deployment of more than 50 CNG trucks and construction of five (5) CNG refueling stations throughout the New York City metropolitan area and on Long Island. Project partnerships involved the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), National Grid, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and the Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition.
- On behalf of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, GNA led the team that wrote the agency’s application to the U.S. EPA’s National Clean Diesel Campaign in order to help the Port meet its goal to reduce emissions from port drayage trucks. The U.S. EPA awarded $7 million in Recovery Act funds to support this important endeavor. Following this successful effort, GNA is a leading member of the team that has been retained to promote and administer its $28 million Regional Truck Replacement Program; a program that will improve local and regional air quality by providing financial incentives to drayage truck owners to replace their trucks with newer and cleaner vehicles.
