| GNA awarded management of San Pedro Bay Clean Trucks Center |
|
SANTA MONICA, CA - September 02, 2008 - GNA is actively involved with the development and deployment of the Clean Trucks Program (CTP) at the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles. The CTP is part of the nation’s most aggressive air quality action plan – the Clean Air Action Plan approved by the San Pedro Bay Ports in November 2006. GNA’s role with this program includes providing management of the Clean Trucks Center – the primary resource for truckers and trucking companies to find information on the program and fill out replacement truck applications – and developing outreach strategies for educating the public and affected parties about the program. Through the CTP, all trucks serving the Ports are required to meet 2007 federal emission standards by 2012 through a progressive ban deadline beginning October 1st, 2008 when all model year 1988 and older trucks will be prohibited from entering either port. The ports are providing subsidized grants and lease-to-own options for affected drivers. GNA’s staffing and management support for the Clean Trucks Center provides a daily resource for truckers and trucking companies to manage compliance with the program and apply for new, clean trucks. The program is expected to reduce air pollution from harbor trucks by more than 80 percent within five years.
